Gotta like that nickel frame! I have had several people tell me that Pietta’s Great Western pistol is the best bang for the buck. That especially for people considering Cowboy Action Shooting.

Got one brand new and none of the bullets are feeding into the rifle and they are the right sort of ammo, any thoughts on what could be wrong or is there something u have to do at the start

You say nothing against Pietta on were their markings are. But I think that is, and should be, against Pietta. It’s unnecessary, especially if Uberti doesn’t do it. So, I’d definitely say a point against Pietta there.

Personally, that's a sexy revolver, but I would definitely change the grips for something else, but other than that I'm sold😊

Ours have been loaded for well over a year, then fired, and BANG, every time. When loading, we ALWAYS make sure a ''Ring of Lead'' come off the ball which ensures a 100% seal. We like to put approx 1/8'' to 3/16'' Paraffin candle wax over the ball or bullet, which helps the seal and also reduces lead fouling. DO NOT HEAT THE WAX, just push it in cold. You can also mix the wax with a little Vaseline to thin it out some. (By the way, Beeswax & Vasoline also makes great mustache Wax!) Instead of Paraffin, you can use other types of wax like Surfboard and beeswax, etc. But Paraffin is cheaper. There are various methods that people load B.P. firearms. The above way has always worked well for us. We like to cast our own bullets using a stove top or torch and sometimes swage them with half a copper jacket. Anyway, that's 2¢ worth

Is your ammo black powder or smokeless?

Looks a lot like my Pistolero by Pietta.

Everyone should have at least one "gunfighter" length barrel. Mine is Cimarron's Holy Smoker and a Cattleman fast draw. Are you going to regulate the front sight? Give it a bump? Or maybe send it back?

Most of the time they shoot to the left and low I have turned the barrels on my pietta’s I have two engraved ones with the 4 3/4 inch barrels I use them when I cowboy action shoot I also have filled the top of the front sight

I just picked up one of these in all blue, with a 5 1/2" barrel and a spare .45 ACP cylinder. I did this on purpose, because the club I shoot at most of the time shoots Wild Bunch with two pistols, not just a 1911, and it's nice to minimize the calibers of ammo I have to carry to the loading table. I was pleasantly surprised by the finish -- in fact it was so rich and uniform I initially thought it might be Cerakote. I bought it with my eyes open, knowing there's a lot of work that might have to be done to get it match-ready. All of my other SAA clones are Ubertis, so this was an experiment. After the first range trip, these are the things I'm going to have to do to it -- trigger job, of course. It's creepy and gritty. I like my triggers to break at 3-3 1/2 pounds, and cleanly. Those plastic grips have to go. the first thing I'm going to try is replacing the grip frames with those from an 1851 Navy. My hands aren't especially big, but I do have wide palms, so the grips aren't long enough to suit my hands. Lastly, it shoots WAY low, with all the different loads I took with me to the range. So, I have to standardize on a load, then start filing the front sight to bring the point of impact up. I've never had to do this on a Uberti, but if the sights are going to be off from the factory, this is definitely the direction you want them to be off, at least vertically. Left and right it seems to be fine. We'll see how it goes...

Of all the SAA n clones you've had in your collection, how many actually hit to point of aim? And, can anything be done for ones that don't...?
